American University Washington College of Law Professor Ezra Rosser in his new op-ed discusses the recent United Nations report on extreme poverty in the U.S., and the government policies on addressing prevalent factors, such as incarceration, youth poverty, infant mortality, incarceration, and income inequality. The report calls the U.S. “a land of stark contrasts” for being one of the richest nations while about “40 million live in poverty, 18.5 million in extreme poverty, and 5.3 million live in Third World conditions of absolute poverty.”
