Professor Jennifer Daskal, director of Law Tech, Law & Security Program at American University Washington College of Law, discusses the controversial Executive Order on Preventing Online Censorship recently Signed by President Donald Trump, aimed at limiting the broad legal protections enjoyed by social media companies. In this article, Professor Daskal reiterates that “nothing in the law itself permits the Executive to unilaterally determine the scope of liability faced by the companies.  Nor does it give the Federal Communication Commission the kind of regulatory authority that the Executive Order contemplates.”
