American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) has long been a leader in experiential legal education.  In addition to our programmatic strengths in in-house, live-client clinical education and externships, we have a vibrant simulation curriculum in the areas of trial practice, pre-trial litigation, interviewing and counseling, alternative dispute resolution, and international business negotiations among other courses. AUWCL also offers a number of unique experiential programs that build upon its historic strengths in international human rights and humanitarian law.

Increasingly, employers are looking for law graduates who are prepared to hit the ground running as they begin their legal careers. AUWCL’s experiential curriculum is a key component of the law school’s efforts to produce just such graduates. By giving students an opportunity not only to “think like lawyers” but also to “practice as lawyers” under the watchful eyes of experienced faculty, AUWCL makes real the commitment to provide students with a solid practical and intellectual grounding as they enter into the practice of law.
