Give Today for a Brighter Future
Washington College of Law is the first law school in the world founded by women; the first to have a woman dean; and the first to graduate an all-female law school class. No law school is better positioned than the Washington College of Law to take on an unprecedented new future.
Seated at the heart of our nation’s capital, our students are provided with foundations in core legal principals taught by world renowned faculty, and an education complimented by incredible experiential learning opportunities through nationally ranked programs like Clinic and Trial Advocacy. Our students are known for graduating and being ready for practice. They are nimble. They are astute at navigating a variety of challenges. They have the practical knowledge and experience to succeed.
Ways to Give
With your Support we will Continue to Rise up
Thanks to our dynamic leaders, WCL has been working to not only stay competitive with, but surpass our peers. In the past five years alone, WCL has risen 10 places in the U.S. News & World Report rankings and now has 3 programs ranked in the top 5 nationally (Clinical Legal Education #2, International Law #4, Trial Advocacy #4). The scholarly excellence of our students is supported by the recently established Office of Academic Excellence, which has overseen jumps in bar passage rates and the resultant employment of our students.
But now we turn to you, our alumni, friends and family to take us further. In order to continue to rise in our pursuit of excellence, we need additional support for student scholarship to attract and retain the best and brightest students; support for our faculty so that they can continue their pursuits in research and innovation. Your support will also help us ensure a positive student experience that includes resources for their academic goals and legal futures.
Annual giving serves as the foundation of the American University Washington College of Law's philanthropic support. Annual gifts are made by AUWCL's own alumni, students, faculty, and staff in addition to longtime supporters, businesses, and foundations, and we could not be where we are today without their loyal generosity.
How to Give
Diversity and Inclusion
At WCL we strive to not only create a diverse and inclusive culture, but one in which equity and justice are woven throughout our academic programs and daily interactions. We have a number of pathways you can choose to support this important initiative.
We strive to surpass our peers in scholarship support for our students so that we can help offset the costs of their legal education. In doing so, we hope to not only secure the best and brightest, but retain this incredible talent as well. Consider ways to help our students succeed.
Research & Innovation
At WCL we prepare our students to foresee the legal, ethical, policy, and practice-related implications of new and emerging technologies through new and innovative programs, and thanks to the scholarship of our faculty. Consider funding opportunities to support our faculty and WCLs ability to develop programs that make an impact TODAY.
Our students graduate to legal practice with the tools needed to immediately roll up their sleeves and get the work done! Our experiential learning opportunities are at the core of their legal education. Funding for our core academic programs and including endowed funding for lectures and speaker series are integral to WCLs future.
We create a structure at WCL that ensures success in and outside the classroom, when taking the bar, and in the realm of employment. Funding to support a holistic student experience ensures we have resources for wellness, academic counseling, bar passage strategies and employment. Consider funding opportunities to help position our students for success.
All gifts to American University Washington College of Law make a difference.
