Description
This class offers practical skills for students to be ready to hit the ground as newly minted lawyers to set up their own practice. With the practical experience and knowledge acquired from this class, students will not be out there in the real world facing the unknown.
The three goals for this class are: (1) Develop an in-depth understanding of the business of practicing law; (2) Achieve the confidence and understanding to manage a law firm; and (3) Obtain technological skills to run a 21st century law firm with a cost-effective strategy.
The class is both substantive and practical but will be unlike any other course that you have taken in law school. This class will allow you to unlock the full potential of your Juris Doctor degree. With the advent of technology, and high interest in entrepreneurship as budding lawyers, you have an advantage of having a degree and credentials and the ability to solve problems of others.
Technologies like cloud file storage, integrated case software and “e-filing” require a young lawyer to have an advanced comprehension of technology as it relates to the practice of law. Furthermore, these technology softwares are cost-effective solutions to reduce overhead costs and expenses and maximizes efficiency in legal service delivery to clients.
