Description

This course provides students the knowledge and skill set necessary to design, manage and grow your own law firm. Students learn the nuts and bolts of running a 21st century law firm with modern technology in a cost-effective manner. Professors implement “design theory” principles to teach students how to effectively manage time and resources so they understand how to determine their value within a firm. Students gain the practical knowledge to learn how to utilize their specialty knowledge from law school doctrinal courses in their own practice to serve clients competently and efficiently. The course covers all aspects of practice management, including financial management and billing, client and staff relations, marketing and website communication, legal technology, office systems and the utilization of software to reduce overhead and operation costs. Too many skilled lawyers are unable to reach their financial goals because they don’t appreciate the complexity of managing a profitable law firm. This course addresses that problem head on so that students understand how to be a profitable lawyer regardless of their practice setting.
