GUIDE TO THE WASHINGTON AREA AIRPORTS



Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)
By subway/bus:

    The BWI Express bus (No. B30) runs nonstop from BWI's Concourse E to the Greenbelt subway/metro line. The bus departs every 40 minutes on the weekend beginning at 9:40 am until 10:50 pm. Please go to www.wmata.com/timetables/ for more detailed times. Bus ride is $2.

    From the Greenbelt subway/metro you take the green line train to the Fort Totten stop and change to get on the redline towards Shady Grove. Your stop is Tenleytown-AU. Metro trains run frequently. For schedule information go to www.wmata.com. The fare is $2.10.

    Total travel time: 1 hr 45 mins. Total Fare: $4.10

By train/subway:

    Amtrak runs trains from BWI airport to the Union Street metro station. Times and fares vary. Please check the website, www.amtrak.com for the most up to date information.

    From Union Street station take the red line in the direction of Shady Grove. Your stop is Tenleytown/AU. For schedule information go to www.wmata.com.

By SuperShuttle:

    SuperShuttle is a shared ride service in a 8 passenger van. It is more expensive option than public transportation, but they drop you off at your residence.

    Go to lower level and follow signs to the SuperShuttle desk located between bag claims 6 and 7. The ticket counter is open between the hours of 6:00 AM and 2:00 AM. During other times please call 888-826-2700 to arrange service.

    Fare: $30

By taxi:

    Fares are about $55 one way to downtown Washington.




International Airport Dulles (IAD)
By bus/metro:

    Buses depart Dulles hourly from 6:35 a.m. to 11:35 p.m. on weekends. The bus brings you to the Rosslyn metro station. The trip takes 50 minutes and costs $2.

    From the Rosslyn Metro station, take the orange line towards New Carollton. Exit the train at Metro Center and take the red line in the direction of Shady Grove. Your stop is Tenleytown-AU. Fare is $1.10.

By SuperShuttle

    Collect your baggage and follow signs for ground transportation leading you directly to the SuperShuttle boarding area located on lower level, outside at curb 1D or 1F. There will be a uniformed Guest Service Representative who will assist with baggage and boarding. After 12:00am call 703-416-7884.

By taxi:

    Fares are about $45-50 one way to American University.




Reagan National Airport (DCA)

This airport is the closest to the city center, and is the most convenient airport in terms of ground transportation, as the metro/subway has a stop outside the airport.

By Metro/subway:

    Trains stop at the concourse (Level 2 near terminals B and C. Follow signs to Metro. Free shuttles run between Terminal A (Northwest and TWA) and the Metro station. Hours: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 am; Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.; Monday 5:30 a.m. to 12 a.m.

    Take the yellow line towards Gallery Place -Chinatown. Exit train at Gallery Place and take a redline train in the direction of Shady Grove. Your stop is Tenleytown-American University. Alternatively, you can take the blue line toward Addison Road. Exit the train at Metro Center and take a redline train in the direction of Shady Grove. Your stop is Tenleytown-American University.     Upon arrival proceed to the outside curb and contact the SuperShuttle representative. After hours, call 1-800-258-3826 and press 1 for dispatch or 2 for reservations, which will transfer you to dispatch.
