    Newly admitted students may login to our admitted students portal with information on housing, events and other pre-orientation materials.

  • Announcement and Discussion Mailing Lists

    L-Soft's Listserv software allows the creation of mailing lists for announcements and moderated or unmoderated discussion.

  • Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware

    WCL issued computers include Avast! Anti-Virus to scan files and websites for viruses and malware.

  • Assistive Listening

    Assistive listening devices improve listening ability for anyone with hearing impairment, and can be used on their own or with certain hearing aids.

  • AU Account

    All Washington College of Law students, faculty and staff are assigned American University accounts that may be used to sign-in to MyAU, MyWCL, wireless and other services.

  • Audience Response Systems

    Audience response allows instructors or presenters to plan questions during the presentation and prompt the audience to respond using small wireless devices.

  • Audio and Video Editing

    Audio and video editing to remove segments of recorded materials.

  • Audio and Video Recording

    Audio and video recording allows you to capture footage of a class or event, which can be edited, streamed on-demand and/or streamed live for viewing.

  • Audio and Video Streaming

    Audio and video recordings of class meetings and events may be watched later, on-demand at the viewers' leisure. Links may be distributed in advance or after recording, as well as posted to MyWCL.

  • Audio Recording

    Audio recording allows classes and meetings to listened to later or turned into a podcast.

  • Calendaring

    Audience based calendars are available through Master Calendar.

  • Case Management

    Clinic faculty and students have access to the LegalServer platform.

  • Class Seating Charts and Rosters

    Class seating charts and rosters are available to faculty and their assistants via MyWCL course sites.

  • Classroom Audio and Visual Support

    Pre-class and in-class room technology setup and support is available while classes are in session, Monday-Saturday, and by appointment at other times.

  • Classroom to Classroom Streaming

    Classrooms with built-in cameras may have their video and audio streamed to other classrooms in real-time, allowing for overflow or collaborative use.

  • Clinical Technology Services

    Legal practice technology is provided by the department to aid our students and faculty in running a fully operational law firm within the law school.

  • Computer Equipment

    Computer equipment is procured, prepared, deployed and maintained by the help desk.

  • Computer Hardware Purchasing

    Grant-based computer purchases are handled by the Office of Technology.

  • Computer Hardware Support

    Computer hardware occasionally fails or needs to be upgraded.

  • Computer Labs

    Computers for student, faculty and staff use are available on the first and second floors of the Pence Law Library. Additional computers are available for Clinical students within their office.

  • Computer Related Purchases

    Computer peripherals such as scanners, keyboards, mice and other accessories may be purchased at discounted rates via the Office of Technology.

  • Computer Software Purchasing

    Non-standard software may be purchased through the Office of Technology at discounted rates.

  • Computer Software Support

    Standard computer software supplied by the Office of Technology such as the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, web browsers and others is available from the help desk.

  • Computer Training

    Training for a variety of software is available online through Lynda.com covering knowledge levels ranging from beginner to advanced.

  • Computer Video Conferencing

    Skype for Business is included with Office 365 and allows for video calling. For larger meetings Google Hangouts and GoToWebinar are also available.

  • Data Restoration

    Data stored on WCL servers is backed up nightly. In the event of an accidental file deletion, or need for a previous version of a file, it may be possible to restore from a backup.

  • Digital Signage

    There are currently over 20 digital signage screens throughout the Tenley campus, showing a mix of news, events and other real-time information.

  • Domain Registration

    Website domains for departments, events or student organizations is handled centrally by the web team.

  • Electronic Waste Recycling

    Outdated and retired electronic equipment is recycled by American University.

  • Encryption

    Encryption protects data by scrambling it for anyone without the proper information to decypher it.

  • Exam Software

    In-class exams are administered using Exam4 software, and take-home exams are administered via MyWCL.

  • Faculty and Staff Email

    Faculty and staff email is provided via Microsoft's Office 365.

  • File Sharing and Transfers

    Files may be shared from network drives via Fileway.

  • Firewall

    AU's network and WCL's servers are protected from malicious actors via multiple firewalls.

  • Flipped Classroom Support

    The MyMediasite platform allows for the recording of video webcasts, screencasts, and audiocasts, which can then be distributed to students ahead of a class meeting.

  • Graphic Design

    Basic graphic design services are available for digital signage, the web, or traditional publications.

  • Hardware Recommendations

    Technology staff are knowledgeable on a variety of computer hardware and can make recommendations based on your needs and budget.

  • Help Desk

    The help desk is available to provide support and troubleshoot a variety of computer hardware and software problems.

  • Kiosks

    Kiosks are located throughout the library to provide easy access to web-based library tools and searches.

  • Language Translation

    Language translation booths and translation consoles are available for use in multi-language scenarios.

  • Learning Management System (MyWCL)

    MyWCL is a Sharepoint-based learning management system.

  • Live Webcasting

    Live video from classrooms or other event spaces may be streamed privately or publicly via the internet.

  • Loaner Laptops

    Loaner laptops are available to both faculty and staff, as well as students.

  • Loaner Phones

    Android and Apple smart phones are available for short-term use.

  • Loaner Tablets

    A small number of iPad minis are available for classroom related use.

  • Media Conversion and Duplication

    CDs and DVDs may be copied en masse, saving significant time vs. one at a time.

  • Network Storage

    All departments, faculty and staff receive network-based storage.

  • Non-standard Software Support

    Non-standard software, whether free or purchased, receives a "best effort" level of support.

  • Office Moves and Equipment Relocation

    Computer equipment is disconnected, packed and moved to new locations by the help desk staff.

  • Online Forms and Workflows

    New processes or previously paper-based ones may be done through the WCL website.

  • Online Surveys and Polling

    Online surveys and polling allow for feedback to be collected from a specified audience.

  • Printing

    Printing is provided to faculty, staff and students primarily through Xerox multifunction devices.

  • Remote Support

    Remote assistance is available whether you're at WCL or away via SimpleHelp.

  • Room Reservations

    Room reservations may be made through the Events Management System.

  • Screencasting

    The MyMediasite platform allows for the recording of screencasts, such as a Powerpoint presentation or web browsing session, with or without audio narration.

  • Security Operations

    AU and WCL security teams constantly monitor our services for attacks and other threats, taking proactive steps to prevent them.

  • Smartphone and Tablet Support

    Some AU and WCL services such as email and printing are available for smartphones and tablet devices.

  • Software Update Management

    Software updates for Windows, Microsoft Office, and other common applications are centrally managed, tested and deployed to ensure your computer software remains up to date.

  • SSL Certificates

    SSL certificates provide encryption for websites and other online services.

  • Student Hardware Support

    Student hardware support is offered on a "best effort" level, but not all problems can be handled by our team.

  • Student Information System

    WCL uses American University's Student Information System Ellucian

  • Student Organization Email

    Student organizations may request WCL email addresses for their organization and/or leadership.

  • Student Organization Websites

    Student organizations have an important presence on our websites.

  • Transcription and Captioning

    Video and audio recordings may be professionally transcribed or caption.

  • Two-Factor Authentication

    Two-factor authentication allows you to protect your account with another device beyond a password.

  • Virtual Desktop

    Virtual Remote Desktop access is available to faculty and staff.

  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)

    VPN's provide a secure link over the unsecured parts of the internet, allowing you to connect to WCL services as if you were in the building.

  • WCL Account

    All full-time WCL faculty and staff are issued a WCL login and password that provides access to WCL specific services as email, your computer, and network drives.

  • Websites

    The website allows for quick and easy distribution of news and information.

  • Wired Network

    A wired network is available is most offices, and some other parts of the Tenley campus such as Pence Law Library.

  • Wireless Network

    The WCL wireless network is available throughout the Tenley campus, including much of the outdoor space and parking garage.

  • Wireless Screen Sharing

    Instructor, student and guest laptops may be displayed in class without physically connecting the device to the AV system.
