Professor Robbins Elected to Abolish Private Prisons Board of Directors



In recognition of his scholarship and testimony opposing private prisons since their inception, Professor Ira Robbins was elected to the Board of Directors of Abolish Private Prisons. The aim of the organization is to eliminate private prisons in the U.S. by challenging their constitutionality. Robbins was also named legal consultant to the organization's litigation team.

An ardent opponent of private incarceration since its inception in the early 1980s, Robbins has testified on the subject before the U.S. Congress, the President’s Commission on Privatization, and many state legislatures. He has also served as an expert witness on prison privatization. READ MORE
