AUWCL Holds Series of Arbitration Events Beginning Oct. 5

Oct. 3, 2017

The Center on International Commercial Arbitration is hosting an outstanding series of events this fall, starting with the 12th Annual International Commercial Arbitration Lecture Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, 5:30 p.m. at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP. The 2017 Annual Lecture will be presented by Pierre Mayer, emeritus professor at the University of Paris I and international arbitrator. The lecture is sponsored by Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP. It is free but advanced registration is required.

AUWCL is also delighted to partner with the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) to offer a forum for a series of interviews with the world’s most prestigious international arbitrators, the first forum of its kind in the United States. The inaugural interview – “Preserving Perspectives: International Arbitrators in Their Own Words” – will be held at AUWCL on Oct. 26 and will celebrate the career and accomplishments of Judge Stephen Schwebel, the former president of the International Court of Justice and prominent international arbitrator. Judge Schwebel’s career has spanned over six decades and covered nearly three generations of international law lawyers. Margrete Stevens, who served nearly 20 years at the World Bank’s International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes and currently works with King & Spalding’s international arbitration team, will conduct Judge Schwebel’s interview. The oral history will take place at 6:15 p.m. (Drinks and Canapés) with the interview following at 7:15 p.m.
