Two American University Washington College of Law students had the opportunity to attend the 70th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Oct. 19-21. Vanessa Alvarez and Maria Corina Muskus observed the work of Professor Mendez, United Nations Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, attended events at the United Nations, and met with the UN officials and delegates in New York.

Congratulations to the finalists of the 2015 William & Mary International Law Negotiation Invitational. AUWCL’s team of Jacqueline Youm (3L) and Courtney Taylor (2L) competed against 15 other law schools at William & Mary School of Law on October 24 – 25.

Starting Nov. 9, Dean Claudio Grossman, chairperson of the United Nations Committee against Torture (UN CAT), will preside over the Committee's 56th session in Geneva, Switzerland, and serve as country rapporteur for Austria.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the Attorney General of Colombia Eduardo Montealegre visited American University Washington College of Law to create a partnership on academic cooperation between the law school and the Attorney General’s Office. Through this partnership, American University Washington College of Law will provide trainings for the officials from the Office of the Attorney General in the area of international human rights. 

Last week, American University Washington College of Law Professor Angela Davis delivered the 35th Founders’ Lecture during the Washington Bar Association’s 37th Annual Ollie May Cooper Award ceremony at Howard University School of Law.
