Professor Lucy Reed - Preserving Perspectives, International Arbitrators in their Own Words

05:30PM - 07:30PM Tenley Campus - Yuma Y112 Faculty Lounge

We invite you to attend the interview of Professor Lucy Reed, whose cross-cutting career in international dispute resolution has set a standard of excellence.

In 2012, the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) and its Academic Council launched a program—Preserving Perspectives—to record the oral histories of the leading and most influential arbitrators in the world to provide a record for the future about the evolution of modern international arbitration.

The Washington College of Law (WCL) and our  Internationally recognized Center on International Commercial Arbitration are delighted to partner with the ITA and offer the first of its kind programming in the United States, namely a forum for a series of interviews with the world’s most prestigious international arbitrators.

Professor Reed is currently a Professor of Law and Director of the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore, a Vice-President of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and sitting on a variety of arbitration tribunals. Professor Reed has served as the head of Freshfields’ global international arbitration group, President of the American Society of International Law, Chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and U.S. Agent to the Iran-US Claims Tribunal while with the Legal Advisor’s Office of the U.S. Department of State. Susan Franck, a Professor of Law at American University Washington College of Law and author of the new book Arbitration Costs: Myths and Realities in Investment Treaty Arbitration, will conduct Professor Reed’s Interview.
