Join us for the American University Washington College of Law’s Summer Law Program in The Hague! This 2-course, 6-credit program – which is the product of a 17-year collaboration between AUWCL’s War Crimes Research Office and the T.M.C. Asser Institute, one of the leading research institutions in international law in Europe - affords students the opportunity to learn about issues in international criminal law and counterterrorism directly from judges, prosecutors, victim legal representatives, defense attorneys and other experts in these areas of law.
The program runs from May 29th to June 24th, 2023, in the Hague.

Contemporary Challenges of International Humanitarian Law
This panel will discuss some of the topical contemporary issues of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). The panelists will highlight some of the key issues that are currently in the agenda of their organizations. They will discuss their efforts, including advocacy or conceptual debates, to mobilize the international community in adopting measures to improve the protection of IHL in specific situations or topics.
