Criminal Law Externship Fair

The Externship Program is hosting a Criminal Law Externship Fair on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. The Fair provides employers an opportunity to meet with students who have relevant coursework and work experience in the area and allows students to meet with attorneys working specifically in the areas in which they want to practice. This is a seated event, offering a relaxed setting for meaningful conversations with employers to learn about their work and find out about available internships and externships. Third Annual Wenger Distinguished Lecture on Trade: The Great Paradox: Economic Nationalism in an Interdependent Age

Ambassador Rufus Yerxa became President of the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) in May 2016. As president, he oversees NFTC’s efforts in favor of a more open, rules-based world economy, focusing on key issues to U.S. competitiveness such as international trade and tax policy, economic sanctions and export finance. He has more than three decades of experience as a lawyer, diplomat, U.S. trade negotiator and international official. This included roles as staff Director of the key U.S. House committee on trade matters, as Deputy U. S. Trade Representative (USTR) in two Administrations, and as Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). He also spent several years in the private sector, including as the Brussels-based partner with a major U.S. law firm. He holds a BA in political science from the University of Washington (1973), a JD from Seattle University School of Law (1976), and an LLB in International Law from the University of Cambridge, England (1977)

2018 Robert Wone Judicial Clerkship & Internship Conference

For students thinking about a clerkship after graduation, please consider attending the Robert Wone Judicial Clerkship & Internship Conference, which will be held at Washington College of Law on Saturday, October 13th.  There are a number of fantastic panelists and speakers, including Professor Jayesh Rathod, who will give closing remarks.  The conference provides a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the application process for judicial clerkships and internships. 

Registration is free, but the final date to register is next Saturday, October 6th.   

The 2018 Wone Conference brings together judges and law clerks from the area to speak to law students and attorneys about their experiences.  You'll meet judges from the federal and state trial, administrative, and appellate courts, and find out more about the application process to judicial clerkships and internships.  The conference will take place on:

Colours of Food Security

Join the Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law's Student Advisory Board for "The Colours of Food Security", an inter-disciplinary photo series and discussion exploring the right to food.  Experts will discuss the social, environmental, geographic, and human rights issues the global food system faces, and will explore the broad range of policy solutions needed to change the way agriculture operates.
