The Twenty-Second Annual Sylvania Woods Conference on African Americans in the Law
The Sylvania Woods Conference on African Americans and the Law addresses—through the participation of practicing lawyers, jurists, alumni, faculty, students, and administrators—matters of law and associated issues that affect African-American life and culture. The theme for this year’s conference is: “Informed by the present, Inspired for the future.”

Foreign Direct Investment in China: Opportunities and Challenges
The workshop is led by Mao Rong, Senior Counsel of Reed Smith, LLP, based in Beijing, China. It provides an in-depth presentation on the legal framework of China regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), policies and trends towards FDI in China, forms of FDI in China, challenges of doing business in China, and how foreign businesses navigate through these challenges. The workshop will give the attendants the opportunity to engage in a case study of best practices of doing business in China.
The workshop takes place from 9am-12pm on Thursday, April 19, in Room Y402.
