Future of Health Care Series: Genomics, AI, and the African Diaspora

Join the Health Law and Policy Program on November 16th from 12:00-1:15pm ET both in-person (over lunch) and virtually  for the next event in our Future of Health Care series. We are very pleased to partner with the American Health Law Association and American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics for this event. The Future of Health Care Series examines trends, challenges, and opportunities in health care and the role of law and policy and highlights both practitioner and scholar perspectives on timely topics. 

Our panelists will discuss the intersection of genomics, artificial intelligence, and the African diaspora. The panel will be moderated by Assistant Professor Thomas Wilson Williams.  

Our expert panelists include:

-Shawneequa Callier, Associate Professor of Clinical Research and Leadership at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences;

-Ruqaiijah Yearby, Kara J. Trott Professor in Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law

American Association of Matrimonial Lawyers Scholars Program Info Session

Join representatives from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) to connect and learn about their scholars program!

A light meal will be served. Please register in advance.

The purpose of the  AAML Scholars Program is to demonstrate the AAML’s commitment to fostering an apprenticeship like experience for Scholar Applicants interested in the pursuit of family law with a demonstrated dedication to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility to enrich the cultural understanding and experience of the profession. It is the hope of the Academy that the Applicants will bring a diverse perspective to the Program  including but not limited to unique qualities, adaptability, cultural fluency as well as life experiences and will in turn will develop the expertise to become outstanding lawyers and potential future members of the AAML.

 

The program, in addition to working with a Fellow from approximately June 1 to August 1 with dates to be determined by the Scholar and Fellow, will also have the opportunity to attend several Zoom conferences during the summer to learn from members of the AAML in fields related to family law such as child custody evaluation, business valuation, taxation, cross examination, and other areas.

Akin Gump 1L Pro Bono Scholars Program Session

 Join us on January 17 at Noon ET to learn about the 1L Akin Gump Pro Bono Scholars Program from Scott Johnson (’10), Senior Counsel at Akin Gump. The program is a two-summer program for students who show a strong interest in making pro bono an integral part of their Akin Gump careers. Scholars are rising second-year law students who work both at the firm and at a public interest organization during the summer. The next summer, Scholars are members of the firm’s regular summer associate program. Register here
