The Future of Health Care Series: Rethinking Health Reform and the Role of Medicaid in Advancing Health Equity

The Health Law and Policy Program is pleased to present the second event in its new series of panel discussions examining trends, challenges, and opportunities in health care and the role of law and policy. The Future of Health Care series is presented in partnership with the American Health Law Association and the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics and highlights both practitioner and scholar perspectives on timely topics.

In this program, panelists will discuss health reform and the role of Medicaid in advancing health equity, including structural considerations, coverage, innovations and payment, and social determinants of health. Health Law and Policy Program Director Asha Scielzo will moderate the discussion.

-Leonardo Cuello (Research Professor, The Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy’s Center for Children and Families)

-Nicole Huberfeld (Edward R. Utley Professor of Health Law, Boston University School of Public Health; Professor of Law and Co-Director of the BU Law Program in Reproductive Justice, Boston University School of Law)

The 2023 Legends & Leaders Awards Program is our premiere AUWCL Alumni event! The achievements, service, and philanthropy of our Alumni are cause for celebration!

This event will provide an opportunity to honor alumni who have been selected to receive: the Lifetime Philanthropy Award; Distinguished Alumnus Award; and Outstanding Graduate of the Last Decade Award (GOLD Award). In addition, we are recognizing Law Firm Challenge (LFC) supporters. This signature event is hosted by the Myers Society. The John Sherman Myers Society recognizes donors who make annual contributions of $2,500 or more.

Sylvania Woods Black Alumni Homecoming - Building on Our Legacy: Expanding Access to Justice and Supporting the Next Generation of Black Lawyers

American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) will host this inaugural Black Alumni Homecoming on Saturday April 15, 2023. This event continues the twenty-three year history of honoring AUWCL alumnus Sylvania W. Woods. Black alumni and current students will discuss access to justice, service to the community, and ensuring the success of the next generation of black lawyers.
