Professor Victoria Phillips' paper “Intellectual Property Clinics—Helping to Empower All Creators” will be presented at the Mosaic IP Law and Policy Roundtable Conference hosted by the University of Illinois Chicago Law on October 27th and 28th.

Assistant Professor Charles Duan filed an amicus brief in the ASTM v. Public Resource copyright case. The issue in the case was whether private publishers could stop the republication of legally mandatory texts.

Professor Christine Haight Farley and Professor Michael Carroll will moderate the IP at the Supreme Court Series to discuss O’Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier, Lindke v. Freed, and Vidal v. Elster. American University Washington College of Law regularly invites counsel of record and counsel for selected amici to offer post-argument reflections in intellectual property (and related) cases heard by the Supreme Court. These events are held on the afternoon of oral argument before the Court.

Professor Christine Haight Farley quoted in a Bloomberg Law article on Commodores Entertainment Corp. v. Thomas McClary the latest case in a long-running legal dispute between former band members over the name “The Commodores”. This trademark case put the SCOTUS ruling in Abitron Austria GmbH v. Hetronic International Inc. to the test.

Prof. Christine Haight Farley to speak during the Supreme Court IP Review (SCIPR) panel. Prominent lawyers and professors will share their analysis of the Supreme Court’s decisions in IP cases from the past term, including the high-profile cases Jack Daniel’s Properties, Inc. v. VIP Products LLC, and Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. v. Goldsmith.
