Arbitration Summer Session Exam Information

Examination Time Period

Courses in English

Students may download the 24-hour take-home exam seven calendar days after the last day of classes.  The exam will be available until August 1, 2018 through MyWCL. Please see below specific dates:

Introduction to the Practice of International Commercial Arbitration - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 8 to August 1, 2018 (5:00pm (EST).

Investor-State Arbitration - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 14 to August 1, 2018 (5:00pm (EST).

Mediation: Theory & Practice - The final examination requires students to provide two different essays. The first is a memorandum written as legal counsel to a client explaining what to expect from the mediation process and how to best take advantage of the opportunities it offered. The second consists of a reflection on their role as mediator and as advocate in the post-class roleplays. The paper must be uploaded by August 1, 2018 through MyWCL.

Damages and Compensation in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 22 to August 1, 2018.

Advocacy in International Arbitration - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 15 to August 1, 2018.

Contributions of the ICC Court of Arbitration to the Practice of International Commercial Arbitration - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 8 to August 1, 2018.

International Commercial Arbitration and Choice-of-Law Issues - 24-hour take-home exam available from June 22 to August 1, 2017.

Arbitraje Inversionista - Estado - Examen para ser completado en 24 horas y disponible del 14 de junio al 1 de agosto de 2018 (5:00pm ET).

Please note that Exams are optional for certificate students. All students will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.

Given the interrelated nature of these courses, students taking more than one course are advised to take all the exams at the end of the three week session. Students are allowed the accumulated time permitted for each individual exam. That way, students can use the knowledge they have acquired through the whole session.

If you are taking one course, you would have one day or 24 hours to complete your exam, as explained below.

1 course: Arbitration Exam is due in 1 day, or 24 hours;

2 courses: Arbitration exams are due in 2 days, or 48 hours;

3 courses: Arbitration exams are due in 3 days, or 72 hours;

4 courses: Arbitration exams are due in 4 days, or 96 hours; and

5 courses: Arbitration exams are due in 5 days, or 120 hours;

The exam must be uploaded within the allotted time. Any exam that is returned after the allotted time period will be given a failing grade.
