Virginia is a 2-day exam with nine essay questions, ten short answer questions with an emphasis on Virginia law, and 200 multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam questions.

MBE Subjects: Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Torts.

Virginia Essay Subjects: Agency, Civil Procedure, Commercial Paper, Conflict of Laws, Corporations, Creditor’s Rights, Domestic Relations, Equity, Federal Jurisdiction, Local Government Law, Partnerships, Personal Property, Professional Responsibility, Secured Transactions, Suretyship, Taxation, Trusts, Wills plus all MBE subjects.

MPRE: A scaled score of 85 is required for admission.

Scoring: The MBE score (weighted 40%) and the essay score (weighted 60%) are combined to determine if the applicant has achieved a passing score of at least 140.

Filing Deadlines: The deadline for applying to the February 2020 Bar Exam is December 16th. The deadline for applying to the July 2020 Bar Exam is May 11th.
