Student Panel: Has Fighting Corruption Inadvertently Undermined Democracy?

04:00PM - 05:30PM Tenley Campus - Capital C116 Weinstein Courtroom

Is democracy and its institutions all around the world crumbling? Has exposing corruption within those institutions inadvertently threatened democracy? Can we explain the election of Bolsonaro in Brazil, the rise of Trumpism in the US, and the assault upon the rule of law in Europe as the systems of democracy’s ailing state?

These questions will be addressed in a J.D. and LL.M. student-driven panel with perspectives from Brazil, Chile, Bulgaria, Pakistan, and the US. Audience perspective and participation is welcome and encouraged!
