International Suite Talks: Alexandra Arango

Alexandra M. Arango is Counsel for the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Prior to joining the SEC, Alexandra was an Associate in the Litigation Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where she worked on government investigations and white collar crime. Her pro bono practice focused on asylum cases and petitions for clemency.

Alexandra was previously a Legal Fellow at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and during law school, she interned at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica and the legal office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in Jordan. She also worked on a case before the International Court of Justice, participated in the Kovler Project against Torture, and was a student attorney in the UNROW Human Rights Impact Litigation Clinic.

Before law school, Alexandra worked in the Middle East and Central Africa for Mines Advisory Group, a humanitarian organization that removes landmines and unexploded ordnance. Alexandra has a J.D. and an M.A. in International Development from American University, as well as a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
