Professor Michael Carroll to Present on Copyright, Text and Data Mining at Online Conference on Resource Extraction

PIJIP Faculty Director Michael Carroll will present his recent paper on copyright, text, and data mining at an upcoming interdisciplinary conference hosted by the Political Ecology Research Centre at New Zealand's Massey University. The online conference, Extraction - Tracing the Viens, will "re-examine extraction and its contested place in contemporary capitalism." It runs from Jun 29 through July 10, is open to anyone, and does not require registration.

Professor Carroll will speak on the panel Legal and Economic Issues in Data Mining, which is part of an online stream on Knowlede Production and Data Extraction. The panel will be moderated by Paul Uhlir, and will also feature Lucie Guibault, Thomas Margoni, and Alan Paic. It will be held July 8 at 11:30am EST, and the link for the session will be made available at http://perc.ac.nz/wordpress/extraction/
