PIJIP to Co-Host Hybrid Event: Promoting Access to Knowledge and the Right to Research

To mark World Intellectual Property Day on 26 April 2023, the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT), Strathmore University, the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP), American University Washington College of Law, and Electronic Information for Libraries, in cooperation with the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO), have organized a workshop, Promoting Access to Knowledge and the Right to Research.
The one-day workshop, which takes place online and in Nairobi, Kenya, will bring together national and international copyright experts from academia, the legal, policy and regulatory fields, and key stakeholders from the research, education, library and disability communities.

We will also celebrate the launch of the Kenyan edition of ‘Getting Started. Implementing the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with print disabilities’, prepared by EIFL.
Sean Flynn, Director of the AU Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, Teresa Hackett, EIFL Copyright and Libraries Programme Manager, and Dick Kawooya, Coordinator Copyright Advocacy in Africa, Right to Research Project, as well as representatives from EIFL’s partner, the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC), will take part in the workshop.
