American University Washington College of Law proudly hosts the Sixth Biennial Global Conference of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) on “International Economic Law in Unsettling Times”, the largest conference in the history of SIEL. The Conference attracted 300 attendees from around the world, including 194 speakers presenting 150 papers.

American University Washington College of Law is pleased to welcome the 2018-2019 Humphrey Fellows from Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Jordan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, South Sudan, Turkey, and Uganda.

American University Washington College of Law congratulates Professor Robert K. Goldman on his election as president of the International Commission of Jurists(ICJ). The ICJ is one of the oldest and most respected NGOs in the world. Since 1952, it has worked to advance and uphold the rule of law and human rights around the world.

American University Washington College of Law’s Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, in conjunction with the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria Law School, the Network of Latin American Scholars on Gender, Sexuality and the Law ALAS, and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, presented a two-day conference in Mexico City, Mexico this week to discuss issues of sexual and gender based violence.

Professors Robert K. Goldman and Claudio Grossman were honored by the Presidents of Colombia and Chile, respectively. As long-standing member of the American University Washington College of Law international law faculty, and leaders in the field of international human rights, both were recognized for their outstanding work.  

The International and Comparative Legal Studies’ Abroad Program hosted the 2019 International Legal Education Abroad and LL.M. Administrators Conference: "Affirming the Value of Global Education!" Over 70 speakers and attendees, including faculty and practitioners from 65 institutions around the world discussed the future of international programs, the importance of international LL.M. and study abroad programs.
