Jerry Buckley is a founding partner of BuckleySandler LLP, one of the largest and most experienced groups of financial services attorneys in the country. He provides strategic counsel to financial services firms on business formations and acquisitions, risk management, and government enforcement matters. He acts as counsel for financial services trade associations in matters before regulatory agencies and Congress, and in filing amicus curiae briefs related to the interpretation of banking and consumer finance laws in cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate courts. He is also one of the leading lawyers advising financial services companies on the use of electronic signatures and records.
Mr. Buckley is a co-founder of the State Attorneys General Enforcement Network (STAGE Network), a resource to the financial services industry monitoring state AG initiatives, and general counsel of the Electronic Signatures and Records Association.
Mr. Buckley is co-author of Introduction to Mortgage Lending (ABA, 2009) and The Law of Electronic Signatures and Records (West, 2009).
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Buckley was Republican Staff Director of the Senate Banking Committee, where he participated in drafting banking and bank holding company legislation, housing legislation, securities law amendments, RESPA, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Truth in Lending amendments and other finance-related legislation. He also assisted in drafting the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Community Reinvestment Act and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.
Mr. Buckley was one of 114 attorneys nationwide named a member of the "2005 BTI Client Service All-Star's" team for law firms. In March 2009, he was named an eMortgage All-Star by Mortgage Banking magazine. Mr. Buckley was also named one of Washington DC’s Top Financial Services Lawyers by Washingtonian magazine, December 2009. Mr. Buckley was selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2008-2012.
Mr. Buckley received his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School and his A.B. from Fairfield University.
