AUWCL Alumna Julia Saladino Featured as D.C. Bar Social Justice Changemaker

The February 2018 issue of Washington Lawyer magazine shines a spotlight on 11 distinguished D.C. bar members for their exemplary social justice advocacy work. Among them is Julia Saladino ’11, who has worked for the past five years at the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). As a NNEDV staff attorney, Saladino is responsible for developing and maintaining WomensLaw.org, a nationwide toolkit for people experiencing domestic violence. WomensLaw features plain-language, state-by-state information about domestic violence laws, links to resources, shelters, and legal service organizations, and information about the dynamics of abusive relationships, safety planning, and abuse in specific communities. WomensLaw also provides a free, confidential e-mail hotline through which volunteer attorneys answer questions from domestic abuse survivors and refer them to appropriate resources in their areas.

While at AUWCL, Saladino was a student attorney in the Women and the Law Clinic. She continues to engage with students by speaking at events sponsored by the Women and the Law Program.

Prior to joining the NNEDV, Saladino was a senior staff attorney at Bread for the City and a law clerk for D.C. Superior Court Judge Fern Flanagan Saddler.
