Alumni Association

Alumni Association

The American University Washington College of Law Alumni Association (AUWCLAA) connects and engages alumni, students, faculty and staff of American University Washington College of Law through social, educational, and professional activities. It energizes AUWCL’s mission to prepare ethical, well-trained lawyers and professionals to lead with conviction and to “Champion What Matters” within the law and beyond.

Examples of annual activities include: Fall Alumni Reunion and regional events throughout the country.

Every law school alumnus/a (JD, LL.M., SJD, and MLS) is automatically a member of the AUWCLAA. Certain alumni association events will require a registration fee. Alumni communities celebrate the identity, interests, careers, and location of more than 22,000 AUWCL alumni worldwide.

Regional Alumni Chapters

The regional chapters strengthen alumni connections within specific geographic areas. These chapters offer support to alumni in the region or those relocating there. To join current chapter's listserv for please email Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Grace Engelhart at gengelhart@wcl.american.edu and specify the chapter or submit this Participation Form to join an AUWCL Alumni Chapter or Practice Group. 

 

 

Alumni Practice Groups

These practice groups bring together alumni working in specific legal practice areas. These groups facilitate connections among alumni from across the country and internationally, often holding monthly or quarterly virtual meetings focused on a specific discussion topic. The alumni practice groups provide valuable networking and development opportunities for those with shared professional interests. Some groups may also host in-person social events. To join the listserv for a specific practice group please email Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Grace Engelhart at gengelhart@wcl.american.edu. 

Current groups include:   

  • Immigration Law Alumni Practice Group (launched in fall 2024) 
  • IP & Tech Law Alumni Practice Group (launching in spring 2026)  
  • Health Law and Food & Drug Law Alumni Practice Group (launching in spring 2026)
