Description
Designed to provide an introduction to the international legal system and processes. Students explore the basics of public international law through an examination of it fundamental elements. They look at what makes up international law – the subjects of such law and the sources of its rules – as well as see how states and international organizations craft and use international law to deal with specific problems such as protection of international human rights, international economic law, and the use of force. Time permitting, some theoretical perspectives on international law will be considered. Students who take this course will not be eligible for the general International Law survey course in the second, third or 4th years.
