
Claudia Alvarez is an LL.M. candidate in International Legal Studies at American University Washington College of Law and currently serves as a Dean’s Fellow for the Tech, Law & Security Program. She holds an LL.M. in U.S. Law from the University of St. Thomas School of Law and is an attorney from Peru. During her coursework at St. Thomas, she completed a supervised research paper titled “Using AI to Bridge Gaps in Linguistic, Colloquial, and Cultural Terms for Interpreters, Lawyers, and Judges in Asylum Cases to Avoid Miscommunication in Interpretation and Translation,” which strengthened her academic and professional interest in technology and access to justice. Her published thesis, “The Legal Scope of National and International Legislation on the Protection of Personal Data in the Implementation of 5G Technology (Peru, 2021),” reflects her commitment to advancing privacy and technology law.
