Camille A. Thompson is adjunct faculty, the Director of the Office of Public Interest, and the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project at AUWCL.

Professor Thompson was designated as the director of the Office of Public Interest since October 2023. Throughout her career, Professor Thompson has demonstrated a commitment to serving and improving outcomes for students from diverse and underrepresented populations. She is committed to working with the AUWCL community to assist students with their goals in participating in public interest/public service volunteer opportunities and careers.

Professor Thompson received her J.D. from Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law and her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. She is licensed to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia, accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Cassidy is the Coordinator for the Office of Public Interest at AUWCL. She brings with her extensive experience working in higher education, public service, and law and a passion for social justice. An AU Alumni, Cassidy is always happy to help connect students with public interest law opportunities or fun activities happening in DC. When she's not in her office, you can probably find her reading in Columbia Heights or checking out all the great food DC has to offer.

Jayla Simone Meeks is a second-year law student at American University Washington College of Law and a Public Interest Public Service Scholar committed to advancing economic equity, civil rights, and systemic justice. She serves as Director of Programming for the Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association, leading student engagement and public interest advocacy. She is also a Contracts teaching assistant, a member of the Mock Trial Honor Society, and a junior staffer on the Administrative Law Review.

Jayla has worked as a judicial intern in the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania and will be working to protect affordable housing this coming summer. She earned her B.A. from the University of Tulsa, where she engaged in policy advocacy and community organizing in the historic Black Wall Street district. She also holds a Public Policy and International Affairs Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University.
