One of the many long lasting benefits that have resulted from your participation in the Humphrey Fellowship Program are the highly esteemed networks and connections that you developed through the course of the program at the American University Washington College of Law. Please take advantage of these global networks by making use of the following alumni programs :

Mourning the loss of Thulani Maseko

On January 21, 2023, Thulani Maseko, a human rights lawyer from Eswatini, was killed in his home. Thulani was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow from 2010-2011 and graduated with an LL.M. in International Legal Studies in 2011.

On February 9, 2023, AUWCL hosted a memorial event for Thulani Maseko and a discussion on the Future of Democracy in Swaziland/Eswatini. The link to the video of the memorial can be found on YouTube via this link.

Institute of International Education Humphrey Alumni Resources

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is a private not-for-profit agency that administers the Fellowship Program in conjunction with the Department of State. The IIE has developed several alumni resources specific for Humphrey Fellows to help encourage professional growth and global exchange.

  • To connect with Humphrey Fellows from across the world and to share your own accomplishments, visit the Humphrey Alumni Worldwide Site.
  • Fellows can now join the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program- Official Group on LinkedIn! LinkedIn is a great resource for professional networking between Fellows, program alumni and interested participants. It’s a platform to share professional development experiences and resources with one another. The IIE also created 10 subgroups based on the program’s professional areas. Some fields of study are combined in order to inspire networking and interaction between Fellows with similar professional interests. Please join the subgroup that best fits your needs.
  • The IIE also awards deserving Fellows with grants to allow Fellows to pursue projects that use the knowledge and skills they acquired during their Humphrey Fellowship year, and also awards grants to provide funding for alumni to attend a conference, workshop or other professional activity that continues to draw upon the Humphrey experience by strengthening an alumni professional development.
