Conflicts of Interest
The Clinical Program is considered a single law firm for all clinic students except for those placed in the Prosecution section of the Criminal Justice Clinic, where the fieldwork placement is not at AUWCL. Students may not accept paid or unpaid positions with any State’s Attorney’s Office in Maryland (except if enrolled in the Prosecution Clinic), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), D.C. Public Schools, Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)), U.S. Department of Justice (Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL)), the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia, the Legal Advisor’s Office in the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Copyright Office, and any judge on the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals or in the Family Court or Domestic Violence Division of the D.C Superior Court. NOTE: This list of prohibited employers is not exhaustive list, and other potential employment pay pose a conflicts issue. All potential employment must be disclosed.
