Description

Examines the trial process by exploring current criticisms of the jury, the right to trial by jury, the selection of the jury and the character of jury deliberations. In addition, the course addresses judicial control of the jury through the selection of the jury, through trial and post-trial motions and through instructions and the forms of verdicts. Students will have an opportunity to render their own verdict on the jury and to suggest reforms of the jury process. The course also enables students to participate in settlement negotiations and other exercises, including ones about the right to trial by jury, about jury selection and about judicial control of the jury.
