Description
This course is designed to acquaint students with the facts and legal issues on poverty in America. Representatives of leading organizations in the Washington area and others will discuss their experience and current issues relating to hunger, homelessness, unemployment, AIDS, education, migrant worker issues, and other problems facing the poor. Students will be placed with some of these organizations as participant-observers for about 10 hours per week. The course is offered on a pass-fail basis.
