First Class Readings

For Monday, read the materials in the first assignment: including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address. Then: (1) Memorize and be prepared to recite the Gettysburg Address and/or identify and be prepared to discuss what you think is the relationship between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution; (2) Be prepared to discuss what should be the “Constitution” for class discussion and participation; and (3) Pick out what you find to be the most surprising provision in the Constitution or passage in the Declaration. I look forward to meeting you.
