Humans & the Extinction Crisis: Population, Sustainability, and 21st Century Solutions

Date: Wednesday, March 26, 2014
Time: 12:00PM - 01:00PM
Description: With more than 7 billion people on the planet, human population growth, along with reckless overconsumption, is at the root of our most pressing environmental issues. Yet the topic of population, how to slow growth and how to live more sustainably is often left out of conversations among environmental groups, activists and the media. The Center for Biological Diversity has been working to address the connection between rampant human population growth and the extinction crisis since 2009. Through innovative campaigns -- like the award-winning Endangered Species Condoms project -- and a focus on common-sense solutions that benefit women, families, wildlife and the planet, the Center has successfully reached beyond the stigma and awkwardness to bring population and sustainability back into the conversation.
