Congressman Eliot L. Engel (D-NY) is the Ranking Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and was part of President Obama’s official delegation to Israel in March. He also serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee including the Subcommittee on Health, and the Subcommittee on Energy and Power. He is also the author of the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003 and recently introduced a bill to authorize the President to provide certain weapons to carefully vetted Syrian rebels. He is a member of the Tom Lantos Commission on Human rights and is the founder and Co-Chair of the House Oil and National Security Caucus, which is seeking clean, energy efficient alternatives to America's over-reliance on oil.
