09:00 AM - 05:00 PM
American University Washington College of Law, Room 603
4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC
After the ascension of King Mohammed VI, Morocco initiated major legal, social, and economic reforms, and became a model for North Africa. ?Using a multi-disciplinary perspective (including the social sciences and the humanities), this conference will assess the outlook for the rule of law in Morocco in its broadest sense, including ensuring fundamental human rights (such as women?s empowerment and cultural autonomy) and improving justice for all in various environments. Through the lens of national and international standards and Sharia law, the conference will also consider links between the law and economic development in Morocco.? The conference will finally address challenges for Moroccans in maintaining their heritage and otherwise while living in the United States.? ?
