Emerging Issues in International Development Investment: Soft Law and Creative Policy Light New Ways Forward

Three panel discussions will outline emerging issues in domestic and international development investment financing: (1) the evolution and implementation of the environmental, social, and human rights standards attached to project/development finance by the international and regional multilateral development banks and private sector financial institutions; (2) new approaches to financing and direct investments in sustainable development as well as policies incentivizing innovation in investment in sustainable development projects; and (3) the opportunities and risks associated with new financing that has allowed rapid expansion of the microfinance industry.
