WCL BLSA 2010 Black History Month Event: From King to Obama- How far have we come? Where are we headed?

Wednesday, February 3, 2010
06:00 PM - 09:00 PM
6th floor Student Lounges

The historic election of the nation's first African-American president shifted the tides of race relations on a global scale. The significant impact of Obama's presidency can never be trivialized no matter what personal opinions or biases one may hold. As we approach the one year mark of Obama's presidency, time must be taken to reflect on the continuing journey during Black history month, towards true civil equality and justice for all. It is important that we take this opportunity to reflect on our past and critically analyze our present status, so that we may better prepare ourselves for the future.
