Alvina Reckman-Myers First Year Moot Court Competition

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Alvina Reckman-Myers First-Year Competition is designed to give first-year law students the opportunity to practice their appellate advocacy skills and gain valuable advice to improve their skills from the experienced alumni, legal practitioners, and members of the bench who judge the competition. This two-day competition exposes first-year students to the field of appellate litigation by assigning each participant to argue one side of a fictitious case which has been modeled after a case pending before a United States Appellate Court. The competition culminates with a final round in WCL's Moot Courtroom, where venerable jurists and a full gallery help create an authentic courtroom atmosphere.
