Reparations in the Inter-American System: A Comparative Approach *CLE*

The conference will feature internationally renowned lawyers and advocates from Latin America, the United States and Europe, to engage in an academic debate on the current system and structure of reparations in the Inter-American system, its advantages and disadvantages and its challenges for the future. The panelists will discuss the Inter-American system on reparations; tailoring reparations to specific human rights violations, including those committed against indigenous populations, gender based violations, and cultural issues related to reparations; as well as strategies and challenges in lawyering for reparations. Panelists will include: members of the Inter-American Commission and Court of Human Rights; representatives of civil society organizations; experts in the field of international human rights law; experts on the issue of reparations in the European system for the protection of human rights and other comparative law experts, as well as academics working on the issue of reparations in international human rights law.
