Live from the SEC – Videoconference cosponsored with the ABA Section of International Law

The Section of International Law is pleased to announce for the ninth consecutive year, this highly successful broadcast live from the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s headquarters in Washington, DC to law offices in London (where participants may interact with the speakers), New York and other venues around the world. This year’s “Live from the SEC” will be made available through videoconference (at various sites throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and Latin America) and teleconference and now webcast globally.

This program will feature updates by high-ranking SEC staff on SEC policy relevant to practitioners around the world. Subject to be covered will include such recent initiatives and timely topics as: the SEC’s response to the “subprime crisis”, the status of efforts to require specific climate change disclosure; the future of the SEC’s Rule 12g3-2(b) exemption; the SEC’s proposed changes to the content and timing of Form 20-F reporting by foreign private issuers; the SEC’s proposed revisions to its cross-border tender and rights offer rules; an update on progress towards “mutual recognition” of regulatory regimes; the SEC’s IFRS experience; and the SEC’s proposal to mandate use of XBRL for U.S. and non-U.S. issuers. Particular attention will be given to issues relevant to cross border transactions and non-U.S. issuers, as well as multi-jurisdictional cooperation among regulators.
