Outside Scholarships

November & December Deadlines

The outside scholarships listed below are intended for students pursuing legal studies; however, they are not affiliated with American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL). Although the information below is reviewed quarterly for accuracy, it is subject to change at any time by the scholarship organization(s). All outside scholarships received by AUWCL students must be reported to the AUWCL Financial Aid Office and are subject to the cost of attendance guidelines.

Banner & Witcoff, Ltd -Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship
This scholarship is part of Banner & Witcoff's continuing commitment to fostering the development of IP lawyers from diverse backgrounds. It is open to all students currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school and pursuing a career in IP law. The applicant must be a member of a historically under represented group (including race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability) and must have exemplary writing and oral communication skills. Selection is based on academic merit, commitment to pursue IP law, member of underrepresented group, written/oral communication, leadership and community involvement.

Hasner Law Scholarship
Applicants must be planning to enroll or currently enrolled in an accredited United States college or University during the 2018-2019 academic year. All incoming and existing undergraduate, graduate, and law students (1L, 2L, 3L) are eligible to participate.

The Wallin & Klarich Scholarship
The goal of this scholarship is to aid students who have overcome obstacles to be admitted to law school and now face the financial burden that is associated with receiving a law degree.

American Association of University Women International Fellowships
This program is open to women who are not US citizens or permanent residents pursuing full-time graduate degrees at accredited institutions in the United States. Several fellowships are available for study outside the U.S.

American Association of University Women Career Development Grants
This program is open to women pursuing coursework beyond a bachelor’s degree (not including PhD). Special consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.

Ascent Law LLC Scholarship
This scholarship is available to all college students or law students who are currently admitted to and attending an undergraduate degree program at an accredited American university or college or are admitted to and attending a state accredited law school.

The Coover Law Firm ‘Working for Education Scholarship’
The Working for Education Scholarship is designed to help ease the financial burden of college for students who take on many hours at their job.

The Expert Institute Legal Writing Scholarship
The Expert Institute is offering a scholarship for the best legal blog post written by a law student on the topic of expert witnesses. To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit a 1,500 to 2,500 word blog-style article on the use of expert witnesses in litigation through the online submission portal.

Farzad Family Law Scholarship
This scholarship is available to all law students who are currently admitted to and attending an accredited law school.

Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund
Sponsor: Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois
This program is open to first-year Latino students who are Illinois residents attending law school in another state.

Howell & Christmas, LLC Visionary Scholarship
A scholarship will be awarded to a high-achieving, bright student who intends to pursue a career in law.

William W. Hurst Scholarship
The Law Office of William W. Hurst, LLC offers two scholarship each year to students who have an interest in pursuing a career in law. One scholarship for the Fall semester and another for the Spring. Preference will be given to residents of Indiana and those entering their first year of law school, however others are encouraged to apply.

Alan Lescht & Associates, PC Law Student Scholarship Essay Contest
The scholarship will be awarded to the winner of an essay contest.

Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) Law School Scholarship Program
MALDEF's Law School Scholarship Program is open to all law students currently enrolled full time at an accredited United States law school. Applicants are evaluated for their academic and extracurricular achievements, for their background and financial need, and, most important, for their demonstrated commitment to advancing Latino civil rights in their careers.

National Business Law Scholarship
The award will be paid directly to the student, and can be used for any expenses related to legal education, including but not limited to tuition, room, board, books, bar review courses, or commuting expenses.

National Tax Law Scholarship
The award will be paid directly to the student, and can be used for any expenses related to legal education, including but not limited to tuition, room, board, books, bar review courses, or commuting expenses.

Torgenson Law Renee Torgenson Memorial Scholarship
Torgenson Law is a Phoenix, Arizona injury law firm dedicated to the advancement of equality, impartiality, and access to justice for everyone, regardless of their economic situation.
