May & June Scholarships

The outside scholarships listed below are intended for students pursuing legal studies; however, they are not affiliated with American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL). Although the information below is reviewed quarterly for accuracy, it is subject to change at any time by the scholarship organization(s). All outside scholarships received by AUWCL students must be reported to the AUWCL Financial Aid Office and are subject to the cost of attendance guidelines.

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund
Sponsor: American Association for Justice
Awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.

Earl Warren Legal Training Program, Inc. - Public Interest Law Scholarships
Sponsor: NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund
LDF's Earl Warren Scholarship awards are $10,000 per year for three years (as long as scholars remain in good academic standing) for a total of $30,000. In addition to financial assistance, Earl Warren scholars are given two unique opportunities: (1) an LDF internship, externship, or guided research project;competitive positions that are sought out by dozens of students every year, and (2) an invitation to LDF's Civil Rights Training Institute, an invitation-only annual civil rights conference that brings together civil rights advocates, scholars, and attorneys to discuss strategies and to network.

The Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey Scholarship
This program is open to Hispanic Americans (at least one parent must be of Hispanic descent) who are or have been residents of the State of New Jersey and who are currently enrolled in and attending an American Bar Association approved law school in the United States.

Iranian-American Bar Association (IABA) Judge Iravani-Sani Public Interest Scholarship Scholarship
The Judge Iravani-Sani Public Interest Scholarship will support a law student of Iranian heritage who is pursuing public service law. Candidates from across the country are eligible to apply. The scholarship award is $2,500.

Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA)
The LMJ Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted to an ABA accredited law school for a full-time Juris Doctorate degree. The scholarship is available to diverse individuals who: have overcome obstacles, are outstanding and promising scholars, have an interest in corporate law, and possess a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The LMJ Scholarship is a national program that annually grants 15 scholarships of $10,000 to students for their first year of law school. If funds are available, and the selected student remains in good academic standing, they may also qualify for additional financial support in years two and three.

Law Preview's One Lawyer Can Change The World $10k Scholarship
Are you the next great legal mind? In partnership with the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Law Preview will be awarding one hard-working incoming law student $10,000 towards their 1L year.

National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Law Foundation (NAPABA) Sharon and Ivan Leadership (SAIL) Scholarship
The NAPABA Law Foundation will award from the SAIL Scholarship Fund at least one $7,500 scholarship each year, half of which would be distributed to the recipient in his or her second year of law school and the remainder of which would be distributed to the recipient in his or her third year of law school.

Scrofano Law PC Aspiring Public Defender Scholarship
Criteria: 1st or 2nd year law student; Interest in legal career representing individuals rather than institutions; Employed in summer position at a public defender’s office.
