Outside Scholarships

July & August Deadlines

The outside scholarships listed below are intended for students pursuing legal studies; however, they are not affiliated with American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL). Although the information below is reviewed quarterly for accuracy, it is subject to change at any time by the scholarship organization(s). All outside scholarships received by AUWCL students must be reported to the AUWCL Financial Aid Office and are subject to the cost of attendance guidelines.

Ankin Law Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or law school student who submits the best essay.

Carole Bailey Scholarship
Sponsor: U.S. Court of Federal Claims Bar Association
This program will award at least one annual law student scholarship  in honor of the Court's former Deputy Clerk of Administrative Services, Carole Bailey.
Applicants must be enrolled or enrolling in any law school accredited by the American Bar Association for the upcoming academic year and demonstrate either an interest in pursuing a public service legal career, or a past or present commitment to public service. An interest in the subject matter jurisdiction of the Court of Federal Claims is beneficial but not necessary for an applicant to be selected.

Cogburn Law Offices Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student who submits the strongest essay focusing on a given topic.

Console & Hollawell Legal Leaders Scholarship
Available to students who are pursuing a career in law. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the following areas: pre-law, paralegal studies, or working towards their juris doctorate in any concentration of the law.

Dwyer Williams Potter Attorneys, LLP Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students anticipating starting law school in the fall of the same year following the application. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement as reflected by an undergraduate cumulative minimum 3.0 GPA and must have received a bachelor’s degree from an undergraduate college in Oregon.

Good Lawyers/ Good People Scholarship
A $1,000 prize will be awarded to a student attending law school in the coming school year by Simeone & Miller, LLP.

Gordon Law Group Annual Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or law school student who submits the best essay addressing the given topic.

William W. Hurst Scholarship
The Law Office of William W. Hurst, LLC offers two scholarship each year to students who have an interest in pursuing a career in law. We award one scholarship for the Fall semester and another for the Spring. Preference will be given to residents of Indiana and those entering their first year of law school, however others are encouraged to apply.

Keller Law Offices Annual Scholarship
The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a worthy student.

Mainor Wirth Injury Lawyers Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student who submits the strongest essay focusing on a given topic.

Law Office of Henry Queener Annual Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student who submits the strongest essay focusing on a given topic.

Matthew L. Sharp Annual Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student who submits the strongest essay focusing on a given topic.

The Simmons and Fletcher, P.C., Excellence in Ethics Scholarship
$1,000 and $500 scholarships will be awarded to a student attending law school and interested in pro-bono work.

Strom & Associates Annual Scholarship
The scholarship committee will select the student who submits the best essay focusing on the given topic.

Tulsa County Bar Foundation Law School Scholarship
Entering 1Ls in the top 50% of the LSAT who have a significant connection to Tulsa County.

Weisblatt Law Firm Scholarship
The ability to apply for this scholarship is open to any individual currently enrolled in a college or graduate program, or actively applying to attend one such program in 2018.

Annual Asian Heritage Law School Scholarship
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded every fall semester and is intended to encourage more Asian Americans to choose a degree that will help them give back to the Asian community.

The Asian Heritage Scholarship is open to students who will be attending an accredited US Law School in the fall of 2018 and meet all needed requirements.

Baumgartner Law Firm Law Student
Applicant must be enrolled at an accredited law school. This scholarship will be awarded based on need and commitment to helping others.

Goodwin L2 Diversity Fellowship
These fellowships offer financial awards to students of color who work in public interest positions the summer after their first year of law school. Selected fellows are guaranteed a "straight-to-callback" interview with a Goodwin Procter office of their choice in the fall interviewing season during their second year of law school. Fellows are also invited to participate in some of our summer associate program events during their summer at the public interest organization.

Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA)
The LMJ Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted to an ABA accredited law school for a full-time Juris Doctorate degree. The scholarship is available to diverse individuals who: have overcome obstacles, are outstanding and promising scholars, have an interest in corporate law, and possess a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The LMJ Scholarship is a national program that annually grants 15 scholarships of $10,000 to students for their first year of law school. If funds are available, and the selected student remains in good academic standing, they may also qualify for additional financial support in years two and three.

Nadrich & Cohen, L.L.P. Scholarship Fund
This is an award to be given to a full-time law student attending a U.S. Law School for the upcoming academic year. The student must have a commitment to the civil justice system.

National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Law Foundation (NAPABA)
Two scholarships will be awarded to law students who demonstrate a commitment to serve or contribute to the Asian Pacific American community as future leaders. Selections are based on demonstrated commitment to and interest in pro bono, public interest and/or public service legal work, financial need, leadership potential, maturity and responsibility and commitment to serving the needs of the Asian Pacific American community.

Torgenson Law Renee Torgenson Memorial Scholarship
Torgenson Law is a Phoenix, Arizona injury law firm dedicated to the advancement of equality, impartiality, and access to justice for everyone, regardless of their economic situation.

Frank H. Wright Memorial Fund
Awarded by the Berkshire Bar Association; this program is open to residents of Berkshire County, MA who are enrolled in law school in any state.
