Description

This concentrated survey will cover the protection of fashion design and industrial design (from furniture to graphical user interface) by means of intellectual property law. This course will focus on existing protections in U.S. law, but we will also look at legislative proposals for additional protections (mostly in fashion) and make comparisons to the protection systems in other jurisdictions. In the U.S., there is no equivalent to “registered designs” in other jurisdictions. Therefore the course will cover how designs are protected through Design Patent, Trademark (and Trade Dress), and Copyright Law.
