The course will meet for an additional hour each week online. The professors will schedule the online meeting time based on student availability. Pre-requisites: Evidence (LAW 633) and either Criminal Trial Advocacy (LAW 694) or Civil Trial Advocacy (LAW 695). Assessment: Preparation for and presentation of in-class trial simulations. Self-assessment through video review. Final exam comprised of an oral motion to exclude evidence and a written case outline.
Description
Evidentiary Foundations & Objections ("EFO") will help instill your knowledge and understanding of the Federal Rules of Evidence by applying the rules in a courtroom setting. EFO fulfills the experiential education requirements and will help you for the MBE specifically in evidence. A practical course designed to enrich students’ understanding of the Federal Rules of Evidence (FRE) and their application in a trial setting. Through a series of exercises, which simulate pretrial motions and witness examinations, students develop the skills to advocate for or against the admissibility of evidence at trial. Students receive feedback on all in-class exercises and complete self-assessments through video reviews. Students also work in teams outside of class on exercise preparation.
