Greetings, all--I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday evening in Room NT02 at 6:00pm. Please take a look at the syllabus and Class 1 reading materials and be prepared to discuss the "First Class Meeting" exercise as well as the topic of journaling. Weekly journals are required and must be submitted to me via email no later than 9:00 AM on the day of class they are due. The core focus of our time together will be on providing space to discuss professional and career-development related issues as they arise during the experiential part of your externship. The readings and practical exercises (including sit-downs with your supervisors to formulate goals at the beginning and mid-term; required networking meeting with a newly identified prospective mentor; and required 15-plus pages of substantive legal writing) are geared towards highlighting various experiences in the everyday practice of law and with the goal of creating a more thoughtful, entrepreneurial, and self-reliant approach towards your professional development. **NOTE: You must register for the fieldwork component as well (LAW-899). To do so, you must apply for your fieldwork credits through the externship office: https://www.wcl.american.edu/academics/experientialedu/externships/current-students/how-to-registar/ Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. Professor Matthew Pascocello 202-274-4092
