Description
This course explores policy and legal responses to the challenges posed by the impact of human activities on the ocean environment. We will learn about the ocean environment and how people use it, and then examine in more detail the policy and legal responses to regulating people’s use of the oceans, with a focus on the impacts of fishing. We will also discuss the impacts of extracting minerals and of shipping. This course is intended to introduce the basic policy and legal concepts used to regulate human activity that affects the ocean. This course is part of the Environmental Law Summer Session.
